Burger Lounge

Burger Lounge is ----

There's 4 or 5 in San Diego, and there are 2 in LA - one in WeHo, one in Beverly Hills.

It's very similar to The Counter in fashion, the font, the decor, the way you order, the hipness.  I ordered the Lounge Burger with no cheese.

It reminded me of the O! Burger. Didn't think I'd remember it, but there was a distinct similarity... It was the bun - A wheaty bun.  It tasted kinda wheaty and healthy.

The t-shirts worn by the staff in Burger Lounge say 'The Original Grassfed Burger' as though they invented feeding cows grass.

When my burger arrived there was a trademarked sticker on the outer paper wrapping that read:  'this is the burger you want: 'Lounge Burger'.

The Lounge Burger was quite thick, with a lot of lettuce, and a big bun. Thick. Toasted, but in an olive oil so it's got an oily taste.

It was juicy, with Thousand Island dressing and altogether not particularly nice.  There is an artlessness to the composition and it was even a bit singed.

It's just a burger, but it's trying to be interesting and fails. Sometimes you find a burger that, in its humbleness, reminds you how epic they are, like the burger at Hole in the Wall - so simple, yet so incredible.  I'm afraid that Burger Lounge falls severely short of that mark.  In its attempt to be extraordinary, it seems to have forgotten the 'extra' just like it left out pickles and what you're left with is just - Ordinary.

The Scores:

Meatiness - 3
Succulentiousness - 2
Bun - 2
Flavor - 2
Stay togetherness - 4
Joint - 3
